An IV, known as an intravenous is a medical procedure that involves a licensed medical professional placing a small catheter into the vein. This allows fluids, electrolytes, medications, vitamins and minerals to bypass the digestive system and allows your body to fully absorb the fluids.
-
IV therapy is safe when performed by qualified, licensed professionals. It is an alternative and complimentary therapy not intended to diagnosis or treat specific medical issues. Research into complimentary therapies are constantly evolving, with more of a focus on wellness and taking more of a health-promotion stance. Our Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse have both worked in Emergency Care, with lots of experience in intravenous therapy/rehydration. Our team takes pride in providing the utmost comfort and safety in accordance with nursing regulatory bodies and ensures we have the tools to monitor you safely throughout your treatment.

Oral supplements must go through your digestive tract, which makes it less effective as less of the dose is getting absorbed into your cells. (only about 20-30%). This is especially true for those with malabsorption conditions or those that are dehydrated. When IV therapy or IM injection is done, you get up to 90%+ of those vitamins and minerals directly into the cells, making you feel better much quicker and delivering a higher dose which can help restore nutritional deficiencies faster.
-
We conduct health history assessments on each patient to determine eligibility and if you are an ideal candidate. IV therapy may be given to those between the ages of 18-65 years old. It can be part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through rehydration, filling any nutritional gaps, working to detox the body, and helping to slow the aging process down. Our team can make recommendations based on individual goals and health history. Those with any allergy to active ingredients in the treatments are not eligible. Those with severe kidney disease or heart failure are not eligible to receive IV therapy due to the risk of fluid overload. Those who are pregnant/breastfeeding are required to speak with their doctor for approval as well as those who are actively on chemotherapy treatments.

This answer varies on different individual factors including baseline health, patient goals, and what treatment best suits your goals. Generally patients have more frequent treatments or “loading-doses” initially to address the deficiencies and give your body a chance to build up levels, followed by maintenance dosing based on results. Our RN will be happy to discuss frequency during your complimentary consultation and at your appointment!
-
This will be dependent on factors such as baseline health and your body’s ability to metabolize the treatment. Generally, people will feel the positive effects of rehydration vitamin therapy as early as 30 minutes- 2 hours after treatment. However, if a patient has a known deficiency or highly diminished levels, it may take more time for the body to build up the levels to begin to feel “normal” again without the symptoms of the specific deficiency. This is also the case for clients dealing with a high amount of oxidative stress in their bodies.
